THE CLUB: AN OVERVIEW
The Mauritius Naval and Military Gymkhana Club was first founded to serve as a Service Club for British officers posted on the Island in the first half of the nineteenth century between 1834 and 1849.
In 1976 the Royal Navy handed over the Mauritius Naval and Military Gymkhana Club to the first civilian committee. Since 1976, the Club has undergone major changes both in terms of physical infrastructure, facilities, services as well as in terms of its membership – both qualitatively and quantitatively. It is now open to all Mauritians, expatriates and visitors without distinction of race, creed, colour or religion. Established by the British, the library of the MGC has been operational over more than a century and has a stock of more than 13,000 books, magazines in English & French opened to all Members and their children.

The multipurpose hall was built in 2006 and the Club is today proud to offer to all its Members all the facilities to celebrate any special events (birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, any other celebrations or corporate meetings).The hall can cater for around 200 seated people and offers privacy, cosiness and above all much space for every occasion with modern facilities such as AC, overhead projector, modern communication and sound equipment.
Perfectly appropriate for corporate meetings or for small group conferences, this venue can cater up to 25 – 30 persons. Facilities like PA system, video projectors, flip charts and other conferencing materials are provided upon request.

Open and casual area to host either meetings or group gatherings, the swimming pool area is a nice place for association reunions and other corporate functions as well as for family events and other special occasions.
